Isaac Paida
PMP
My experience in the PMP program was phenomenal. The instructors were great and
very helpful; they took the opportunity to answer every question during class so that
everyone could learn. They also shared their personal stories and experiences working
on projects, and this helped make the PMP material more relatable and easier to digest.
Going through the PMP program helped me realize that a lot of the work I have done in
the Army as an HR officer were actually projects consisting of initiation, planning,
execution, monitoring and controlling, and closure phases. The PMP program helped
me look at it from this perspective, and it all fell into place once I got to thinking of it this
way. Now every project I do, even if it is as simple as making some renovations around
the house, I think of it in a more organized fashion using the concepts that I learned
from the PMP program. Before PMP, I would just start buying things or working on
pieces of a project here and there, without taking the time to for example, define the
scope of what it is that I want to do, decompose and sequence the activities, or estimate
a budget and stick to it. Because of the PMP program, I now feel more confident that I
will have a smooth transition from the military and secure a good civilian employment
which will enable me to apply my PMP skills and excel.
