PM-ProLearn was founded in response to a growing need: How can we build the warfighter of today, while also creating greater job credibility for our veterans in the future.

Through first hand experience our CEO Tim Dalhouse saw the impact of earning his PMP while working as a federal contractor on his earning potential and promotability, and then saw how it allowed him to cross industries as he was hired as a PM with the Food and Drug Administration in their animal testing division. Although he had no prior experience with the FDA, he was able to leverage his 24 years of military experience, with his foundational understanding of project management through earning his PMP, to have a successful career.

Conversely, our Chief Strategy Officer Josh Atkinson, saw how beneficial it was to earn his Lean Six Sigma Green belt while serving as a maintenance officer and Task Force XO to solve real world problems using low cost or no cost solutions, and then later was trained by Tim Dalhouse, along with the rest of the 2D MARDIV G4 staff through a unit funded group PMP course. The incorporation of industry best practices, coupled with military planning and leadership created a powerful combination while serving in uniform. Josh then transitioned as a Project Manager (PM) in the heavy rigging industry and saw the value being a certified professional had on his civilian career.

These stories are the foundation of our business. How can we build a training program that provides high touch, hands on learning, that is also flexible enough to allow active duty military personnel to attend when they may be called out at a moments notice without needing to purchase a second class or miss out on their desired training.

Applying a service focused “any Climb/Any Place” Model, PM-ProLearn was formed.

Too many veterans sell themselves short because they don’t understand how to translate their mission planning and military leadership experiences into civilian or corporate terms, and almost every civilian trainer, can’t help them with this simple task.

Additionally, too many veterans wait until transition to invest time into themselves not realizing that PM certifications would have greatly enhanced their performance while serving in uniform, and ensured they were set up for success long before they began to think about transition.
Thus our vision: How can we integrate PM certifications into military development through individual and group training around the world so we can enhance the leadership foundations we need in the future fight (Militarily and in transition).

We knew this was a bold undertaking and would require a major change in how the military viewed professional certifications, but this is exactly what we are trying to do.

Our demand based scheduling model allows us to build group training anywhere in the world. We only need 8 students for live virtual, and 14 for in person. These numbers allow us to take advantage of multiple funding options including Army CA, AF COOL, USCG CA, GI Bill® and Unit funding while not pulling so many folks away that we jeopardize the mission. By integrating live virtual evening training we are allowing groups on deployment to earn certs before they even come home. We are also able to serve reserve and guard units and having a tangible impact on civilian employment at the same time.
Our year long, all inclusive partnership model, ensure that our students can attend and re-attend when it is convenient for them. If they get pulled out of class part way through they can come back the next week. If they get pulled for a short notice exercise or deployment and cannot study like they wanted for 6 months, the can re-attend all over again when they return.

By including application education and assistance, we help our students translate their military experience (or military spouse volunteer experience) into PMI language so they can get the credit they deserve.

By having on call instructors we can provide one-on-one coaching to allow our students to get the focused attention they need when working towards a difficult exam.

By including the exam and re-test fees we ensure no one had any extra costs and we ensure we can remove the added stress that if you fail you aren't going to have to pay more money.

By staying at or below $2k we have access to multiple funding sources like Army CA, MyCAA and GI Bill® all of which cap at $2k per year, without any out-of-pocket fees and we allow Airmen using AF COOL to pursue multiple certifications within their $4500 limit.

By allowing your application to determine your exam pathway we can help spouses using MyCAA funding to earn the cert their experience can achieve without being worried they won’t qualify.

By allowing demand-based scheduling we can serve organizations without fighting ongoing operational schedules.

By using the active-duty service member and units as our “Persona” of a student and organization, we have built something really special that can also serve corporate clients as well. Clients like T-Mobile, Johnson Controls, Norton Healthcare, ManTech, Orstead, Bayer and others, have been able to set up custom group training courses at times and locations beneficial to their teams.

In 2022 Josh built a program called “the Empowered Transition” that helps veterans better prepare emotionally, professionally, and financially for transition while they still have time to invest in themselves. The goal isn’t to simply provide education, it is to provide empowerment so that our students and all veterans have better controls of their military transition.

In 2024, we started focusing on helping corporate clients better understand how to hire onboard and retain veterans, and in 2025 we intend to further this educational support so we can help our students find better alignment with future careers.

With PM-ProLearn, the military service is part of our DNA. Its who we are. We have had employees from every branch of the military and their spouses. Its why one of our primary colors is purple (Joint) We are not exclusive to military members however.  For corporate clients and students, we are here to serve you too.
